Alfonso "Al" Lanzara

Alfonso (Al) Lanzara, 83, of Hartland, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 22nd in Oconomowoc with his family around him. He leaves behind his wife, Dolores Lanzara; his children, Patricia Lanzara, Theresa (and Dave) Custer, Angella (and Chalice) Kirby and Mark (and Mary) Kirby; his grandchildren Stephen Custer, Kevin (and Becca) Custer, Nick (and Sarah) Custer, and Kyrsten Kirby; his sisters Tina Piotti and Marie (and Marty) Malvoso; his nephew, Vinnie Malvoso; and niece, Susan Piotti-Dwyer. Al was born September 19, 1937 in Philadelphia, PA to Joseph and Michelina Lanzara. He grew up in Philadelphia and moved to Maryland in 1968 with his first wife, Patricia Lanzara and his daughter, Patti Lanzara. He retired to King George, VA and moved to Oconomowoc, WI in 2016 to live with his daughter. Al and his wife, Dolores, moved to Heritage Senior Living in 2019. They made many friends there and enjoyed the social activities. He was the “welcomer” at Heritage to all new residents and he took care of all of the plants for them. Al had a love for food and working in restaurant management. He had his own restaurant for some time and then managed others. He was a great cook and always wanted to make sure you had enough to eat. He loved providing hospitality. Al loved gardening, making jewelry, watching baseball, fishing, visiting Piggy-Wiggy, and spending time with family. He made friends wherever he went. He lovingly cared for his wife, Dolores Lanzara, for many years after she had her stroke. He will be remembered as a “caretaker” making sure everyone was okay. A private service will be held at Pagenkopf Funeral Home in Oconomowoc, WI on Friday, September 25th at 9:30AM, followed by a public visitation from 11AM – 12PM. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or the American Heart Association in lieu of flowers. The service will be streamed and recorded on Facebook.
