Ann (McFarland) Beranek, 51, of Oconomowoc passed away after a courageous battle with brain cancer, surrounded by her loving family, at her home on Monday morning, March 21st. A mass will be celebrated on Saturday Mar 26, 2011 at 11am at St. Jerome’s Catholic Church in Oconomowoc. Relatives and friends may call to pay their respects at the church from 9am until the time of the mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to American Cancer Society, Make-A-Wish Foundation, or a charity of your choice. Ann Marie McFarland was born on September 23, 1959, in Watertown, WI, daughter of Edward and Donna (Murray) McFarland. On July 9, 1983, she married Gerald M. Beranek at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Watertown. Ann attended St. Bernard’s grade school and graduated from Watertown High School in 1978. She graduated from UW-Madison with a double major in Agricultural Journalism and Extension Education. She was a former member of the Watertown Badgers 4-H club, founded by her grandparents, and the Watertown FFA. Ann dedicated her life to her family and was involved in every aspect of her children’s lives. She was active in Scouts, Robotics, soccer, CCD, and the Summit Elementary School PTA. She was previously employed by the Watertown Daily Times in Display Advertising. Ann is survived by: her husband, Jerry, of Oconomowoc; son, Kevin, of Seattle, WA; daughter, Jackie, of Oconomowoc; and son, Kyle, of Oconomowoc. Her father and mother, Ed and Donna McFarland of Watertown; sister Kathleen of Lake Geneva; brothers Peter (Cindy) of Watertown, and Jim (Patti) of Sullivan. Her father-in-law Stanley Beranek, brothers and sisters-in-law: Catherine (Michael) Schell of New York, Paul Beranek of Watertown, Barbara (Thomas) Burke of Washington, Jean (Lawrence) Berg of Milwaukee, Connie (Ron) Noe of Watertown, Karen (Dan) Ochs of Waterford, Tom (Jennifer) Beranek of Oconomowoc, Doug (Lynne) Beranek of Antioch, Illinois, and Cheryl (John) Bott of Watertown, as well as 25 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother-in-law Carol Beranek and brother-in-law Daniel Beranek.
