Anthony Richard Shumway, passed away Saturday, January 22nd, 2022, in the presence of his loving wife, Aleta, of 29 years and two children. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Against all odds, he was determined to continue his battle with cancer in order to meet his first grandchild. He was proud to hold her in his arms. Tony was born October 4, 1968 in Columbus, Ohio, and raised in Crestwood, KY. He graduated from North Warren Regional High in Blairstown, NJ. In the following years, he found a passion through his work of Land Surveying. Tony found honor in providing for his family no matter what obstacle laid ahead. He enjoyed listening to music, watching his favorite cartoons, and being the ultimate champion in all things mini golf. Tony inspired many to push through the hardships and focus on what is important. Most will describe him as a brilliant, goofy, and big-hearted man. He drew strength from the love of his family, and will be deeply missed. Tony is survived by his wife, Aleta J. Shumway (Walloch); son, Richard E. Shumway (Kassi Margelofsky); daughter, Vanessa C. Shumway; granddaughter, Kylie G. Shumway; two brothers, Brandon Shumway (Amy Lou), Gregory Shumway (Amy Jo); nieces and nephews, Nichole, Erica, Kayla, Holly, Ian, Marcus, Payton and Macy. Tony is preceded in death by his father, Richard E. Shumway; mother, Darlene B. Shumway; and sisters, Tracey D. Shumway and Michelle I. Swanson. A celebration will be held in honor of Tony at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tony’s name to Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation.
