Arlene Marie Lutgen (nee Mayhew), 67, of Delafield, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 21, 2012. Arlene is survived by her loving husband of 47 years Philip Lutgen, sons Brian (Diane) Lutgen, Bradley (Melissa) Lutgen, daughter Rebecca (Scott) Gardner and brother James (Hong) Mayhew. Grandmother to Heather Lutgen, Elizabeth Lutgen, Emily Lutgen, Cori (Andy) Hurley, Hunter Gardner, Devon Gardner, Zachary Lutgen and Alexis Lutgen. Great-grandmother to Joshua and Ava Hurley. Arlene is also survived by other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by her parents Fowler and Lydia Mayhew. Arlene was born in Milwaukee on May 25, 1945. She graduated from Pewaukee High School and received a Bachelor's Degree in education from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater after attending the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Arlene was married to Philip L. Lutgen on September 25, 1965 and worked with him as an owner and partner of Delafield Pharmacy for more than 16 years. She also worked as the church secretary at Christ the King Lutheran Church. Arlene cherished being a mother and grandmother, cooking for her family and friends, the joy of celebrating all holidays (with a special love for Christmas), shopping, traveling and decorating her cottage in northern Wisconsin. A memorial service celebrating Arlene's life will take place at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 1600 N. Genesee Street in Delafield, on Thursday, September 27th at 4:00 PM. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 2:00 PM until the time of the service. A dinner will follow the service at The Seven Seas in Delafield at 6:00 PM for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to PKS Kids, www.pkskids.net/inmemory.php , a Pallister-Killian Syndrome charitable organization that helps one of Arlene's grandchildren who is affected by this disorder, or the charity of your choice. The family of Arlene Lutgen wishes to thank our entire family and friends, the Lake Country Health and Rehabilitation Center staff, as well as the members of Christ the King Lutheran Church who gave of themselves throughout her struggle with cancer.
