Barbara Hegwood, age 92 of Dousman, Wisconsin, was reunited in death with her late husband Robert D. Hegwood, on April 13, 2022. Born on May 22, 1929, to Joe & Martha (Millie Reynolds) Peregrine, Barb grew up on a Nebraska farm. She shared stories of her childhood on the farm, both the long hours of work – doing chores and gathering chicken eggs – as well as the responsibilities and rewards of caring for her horse, Dimples. Those who knew Barb can appreciate how this shaped her strong work ethic, generosity, and comforting, positive presence throughout her long life. Barb went on to earn a degree from Wesleyan University, and in 1951 she married Robert Hegwood in Grant, Nebraska. Together they relocated to Lincoln, Chicago and then Wisconsin and welcomed six children into the world. Though Barb would often call her role of Mom the most rewarding one, she worked tirelessly and compassionately in numerous capacities throughout this time as well – starting a home daycare, teaching nursery school, launching her own business selling Avon products – and later partnering with husband Bob, and sons Rob & Eric, to start a printing company CCI in Hartland, Wisconsin. They were fortunate to have their son Brent and their grandchildren Chad, Chelsea and Ryan also work in the family business. No matter how hard she worked, she always made time for her family and friends. Together, Barb and Bob raised 6 children in Brookfield and then bought a home in Eagle, Wisconsin, where they lived for 30 years and made many friends in the community and within their church family at the United Methodist Church in Eagle. Barb loved to travel, taking many trips with Bob and their friends, and enjoying annual weekend getaways with her daughters. Barb’s creativity and nurturing spirit also found an outlet in nature. Barb and Bob became snowbirds, spending their winters in the warm sun in Fountain Hills, Arizona, widening their treasured circle of friends. After retiring in 2008, they spent many years of enjoyment creating new gardens and beautiful walking paths throughout their Eagle property. Barb will always be loved and remembered, and she leaves behind a strong legacy in her cherished family. She was a loving mother to her children: Brent (Jackie) Hegwood of Eagle, Ron (Karen) Hegwood of Brookfield, the late Rob (Betsy) Hegwood of Brookfield, Eric (Diane) Hegwood of Nashotah, JoEllen Hegwood of Wauwatosa, and KayLynn Hegwood of Fitchburg. Barb was beloved grandmother of seven: Chad (Molly) Hegwood, Chelsea (Brandon) Famularo, Kali Hegwood, Ryan (Heidi) Hegwood, Tyler (Johanna) Hegwood, Jonathan Hegwood (fiancée Hayley McNamee), Chris (Sally Hegwood Vliet) Hegwood. And she was thrilled to become great-grandmother to eight precious ones: Jackson, Charlie, Judd, and Eddie Hegwood; Joe and Ben Famularo; Elise Hegwood; and Laurel Hegwood. Barb was preceded in death by her husband Robert, son Robert, brothers Dale and Bud, and sisters Dorothy and Gerry (John) Zingg. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday April 23, 2022, at Old World Wisconsin (W372 S9727 Hwy 67, Eagle, Wisconsin) in the Clausing Barn. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 12:30 with services at 2:00. Our family would like to extend love and boundless appreciation to the nurses, aids, and staff at Three Pillars Compass Point in Dousman Wisconsin for their help, love, and care. Donations to OWW are welcome: https://oldworldfoundation.org/memorials-tributes.html “Wherever a beautiful soul has been, there is a trail of beautiful memories.”
