Beatrice Brumder Gallagher, age 87, passed away on January 8, 2020. Known widely as “Beachy”, (“Bammer “to her beloved grandchildren, “Trin” to her siblings and “Aunt Grrr” to a few fond nephews and nieces), she lived an amazing life and was an inspiration to people who were lucky enough to know her. She struggled with Parkinson’s for the last few years of her life. Our family is grateful for her many wonderful caregivers and we are particularly indebted to Anne Huston who provided love, care and support with patience and grace, especially during these past months when COVID prevented us from seeing her in person. In her younger years, she was an avid scow sailor, and won the Inland in the “D” class. Her independent spirit led her and sister Endy as teenagers to drive to California seeking adventure, where they ended up working in an apricot canning factory and sleeping in their car. She attended Middlebury College until a study abroad semester turned into a year’s adventure traveling solo through Europe shortly after WW II. Upon returning, she finished her degree at University of Wisconsin, Madison. She married the Irish love of her life, Patrick Dillon Gallagher in 1956. She raised five children in a big noisy house full of dogs and other pets, with humor, a sense of fun, and an uncanny ability to look the other way when mischief was brewing. She held poetry contests and art shows for her kids, provided “doggy dinners” and “get-it-yourself” dinners. She was not concerned with having a perfect home or decorating or cooking (unless it was her famous brownies): the things that were important to her ran deeper. Upon the early death of her husband Patrick Sr., she embarked upon a successful residential real estate sales career, which she approached with a practical mind, a great sense of humor, deep integrity, and an unflappable demeanor. Two of her children joined her and her legacy continues through them and Gallagher Lake Country Real Estate. Throughout her life, she loved her family most of all… and tennis and skiing and sailing and travel and reading and yoga and nature. She loved her tennis pals and her book club friends; she made people feel that they mattered. She was a great listener. Bammer passed along her sense of adventure and curiosity to her children and grandchildren and was a true example of resilience and kindness. Ever stoic and strong, she never complained, even when life handed her significant challenges. She will be deeply missed. In her memory, please seize each day, forgive people their transgressions and tell them you love them. She is survived by her 5 children; Kathy Gallagher Rosenheimer (Bruce), Patrick Dillon Gallagher Jr., Bruce Gallun Gallagher (Rebecca), Mary Gallagher Rolfs (Tom), Julie Gallagher Rolfs (Ted), as well as 16 grandchildren: Chelsea, Will, Piper and Maisie Rosenheimer; Brigid, Celia, Fiona and Dillon Gallagher; George, Hillary and Eliza Rolfs; Theodore, Albert, Simon and Trainer Rolfs and Beatrice Rose Gallagher. She also leaves behind her siblings George Brumder (Marilyn), Endy Stark, her dear cousin E.J. Brumder as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Mary Brumder-Teichmann, her husband Patrick D Gallagher and her granddaughter Emma Rosenheimer. In lieu of flowers, donations to Tall Pines Conservancy (P.O. Box 65 Nashotah WI 53058) or the Michael J Fox Parkinsons Research Foundation (michaeljfox.org) or St. Anskar's Episcopal Church, Hartland, WI … would be greatly appreciated.
