Bernard Vena

Bernard L. Vena, 84, Oshkosh died Monday morning, October 11th, at Mercy Medical Center. He was born on June 10, 1927 in the City of Kenosha, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Leopold P. and Livia M. (nee Del Carlo) Vena. He was educated at local schools in Kenosha and was a resident of South Milwaukee, and Oak Creek before moving to Oshkosh, Wisconsin in 2005. Bernie was an avid duck hunter, enjoyed the outdoors, traveling, and loved both skeet and trapshooting. Over the years he won many awards for his shooting skills. On August 26, 1950 he married Joyce Elaine Cruzen of Kenosha who preceded him in death earlier this year in April. He was employed at Simmons Mattress and American Motors in Kenosha before working at Line Material (Kyle) in South Milwaukee where he retired in 1989. Surviving him is a daughter, Suzanne (Gerry) Smith of Oshkosh; a son Randy Vena of Oak Creek; two sisters Mary Ann Dagon and Lola Nussbaum both of Fort Meyers, Florida; a brother-in-law Wayne (Lynn) Cruzen of Oak Creek; one grandchild, Thom (Lorie) Hadel of Oshkosh and two great-grandchildren, Spencer and McKenna. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Leopold Vena of Kenosha and a brother-in-law Oran Cruzen of San Antonio, Texas. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. with the service starting at 1:30 p.m. Visitation and service will be in the Chapel at Forest Hill Memorial Park, 3301 East Forest Hill Avenue in Oak Creek on Tuesday, October 18, 2011.
