Bette Ann Kirby

Bette Ann Kirby (nee O’Brien), age 78, passed away peacefully at AngelsGrace Hospice on June 28, 2022. Bette was born in Portsmouth, NH on September 10, 1943 to William T. and Louise (nee Tobey) O’Brien. Bette is survived by her husband of 56 years, Rick; children, Lisa (Bob) Mangas and Brent (Jenna) Kirby, grandchildren, Maggie, Jenny, Abby, Mira and Ever; along with many family and friends. Bette is preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Bonnie and Bev. Bette was an elementary teacher in Pewaukee, WI and was an active volunteer in Girl Scouts. She loved to garden and was a life-long learner with a special love of the current news topics. Bette was selfless, always willing to help anyone in need. Bette was an exceptional wife, mother and educator, who touched the hearts and souls of many. She asked for little but often without being asked gave as much as she could. She fought cancer with every fiber in her body but finally could fight no more. She was courageous, brave, and determined. She adored her family and cherished her time spent with her husband. In lieu of flowers, donations to The American Cancer Society in Bette’s name are appreciated. Per Bette’s wishes, there will be no services, but please celebrate Bette’s life in your own special way.
