Beverly Jane Mccormick

Beverly (“Bev”) Jane McCormick, 88, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at Oconomomoc Memorial Hospital, of natural causes.

Bev was the only child of Garfield and Rose Vukelic and grew up in West Allis, Wisconsin. She attended Mount Mary College and received a degree in Medical Technology from the School of Medical Technology at St. Mary’s Hospital in Milwaukee. Following graduation, Bev worked as a medical technician at St. Mary’s Hospital, and it was there that she met her future husband and the love of her life, Dr. Raymond (“Sam”) McCormick. In October 1959, Bev and Sam were married at Church of the Gesu in Milwaukee; soon afterward, they moved to the Green Bay area, where they raised a family of five children and were active in various community organizations, including the Brown County Medical Society. In addition to their primary home on Broadway in De Pere, Bev, Sam, and family enjoyed many summers at a cottage on Long Lake, near Waupaca.

A devoted mother and a lifelong enthusiast of crafting, interior decor, plants, and household projects, Bev left her distinctive mark on the De Pere home as well as at a longtime residence in Hobart and, most recently, Oconomowoc where she spent her final years living with daughter Eileen and granddaughter Samantha.

Bev was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Sam. She is survived by her five children, James (Laura) McCormick; Patrick (Deb) McCormick; Vince (Becky) McCormick; Eileen Cobb; Mark (Laura) McCormick; six grandchildren, Jessica (Jose) Rodriguez; Ryan (Gloria) McCormick; Carolyn Cobb; Samantha Cobb; Weston McCormick; Thorton McCormick; three step-grandchildren, Elizabeth (Dan) Van Sickle; Victoria Busch; Joanna (Greg) Young; three great-grandchildren, Natalia, Elia, and Aviana Rodriguez; and three step-great-grandchildren, Mark and Cassy Alverez; Evelyn Van Sickle; and family pet, Fiona.

A funeral mass will be held at 11am on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at Christ King Parish in Wauwatosa (2604 N Swan Blvd, Milwaukee, WI 53226). A visitation will be held at the church from 10am to 11am. Interment will be the same afternoon at Holy Cross Cemetery in Milwaukee.

The family is grateful for the excellent care provided by the staff at Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital, including the ProHealth Care Hospice team.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bev’s honor to one of her preferred charities: the American Red Cross, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), Salvation Army, or Wisconsin Humane Society.
