It is with profound sadness and everlasting love, that the family of Brion Gompper announce his passing on July 29, 2024. Surrounded by family, Brion was called back to God for his eternal rest. He was 71 years old.
Brion is survived by his loving wife and best friend of over 50 years, Deborah (Luedtke). He was a devoted father and mentor to their two children, Joshua (Jessica) and daughter Laura Chartier (Adam). His devotion extended to their grandchildren, the proud “Papa” to Hannah, Benjamin, Alec, Andrew and Eloise, who will miss his laughter every day.
Brion dedicated his life to providing and protecting all of his family. “Bubs” will be dearly missed by his loving extended family including Karen Rzepiejewski (sister-in-law), Michael Luedtke (brother-in-law) and all of his cousins, nephews and nieces.
Born in 1952 to Norbert and Dorothy Gompper, Brion was one of 6 children. Brion is preceded in death by his sister Geraldine; his surviving siblings are Barbara, Ralph, Sharon and Norette. He went on to graduate from Milwaukee School of Engineering with its highest honors and was a member of Mensa International.
As a highly successful Mechanical Engineer, his expertise expanded to areas in medical, computer hardware and software, manufacturing, and food and beverage all across the United States and Internationally. Brion held the rights to over 30 different patents/inventions over his career, often having his work published. At the age of 42, his medical software work was highlighted in “Machine Design”, showcasing a perfect-fit implant for patients; in many cases allowing them to walk again.
Throughout his life, he found relaxation in sports and his hobbies. He excelled in little league as a child and was an excellent short-stop as an adult. He was a skilled billiards player, had an excellent golf game and enjoyed boating and being on the water.
Brion exuded strength through his 15-year battle with cancer until the day that God put his arms around him and lifted him to rest.
A Visitation Service will be held at 10:00 on Friday, August 9, 2024, at St. Charles Catholic Church located at 313 Circle Drive in Hartland, Wisconsin. Following the Visitation Service, a mass dedicated to the life of Brion Gompper will begin at 12:00pm.
