Carol Marie Tekla Bergmann Lamm, Servant of God, was called home to eternal life on June 14, 2018 at the age of 86 in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. She is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Bill; her children Claudia (Jeff Wood), Paula (Doug Kopp), and Christopher (Maureen Ralph) and her grandchildren Caroline, Adam, Lizzie, Anna, Jenny, Bill, Maddie, and Charlie. She is also survived by her brother, Edgar Bergmann, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings Lorraine Davis, Mildred (Mudi) Klumb, Robert (Bob) Bergmann, and John (Jack) Bergmann, and her parents, Henry Bergmann and Tekla Loeber Bergmann. As the youngest of six children in a large extended family centered on the church, Carol learned early in life the importance of faith and family, which endured as the two primary guiding principles of her life. She was born in Milwaukee and moved to Beloit during grade school. She graduated from Beloit High in 1949 as Salutatorian and from University of Wisconsin-Madison (Cum Laude) in 1954, with a degree in English and Library Science. Carol and Bill met at UW and were married July 10, 1955 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Beloit, WI. Carol spent her adult life finding countless avenues for her boundless energy and limitless variety of passions and interests. As the dedicated wife of a career naval officer, she stopped counting after she had moved 25 times, but never wavered from her commitment to faith, family, and friends. She lovingly raised her children while energetically contributing her talents to each new community and church congregation as a humble leader and tireless volunteer. As a true lifelong learner, she enjoyed an incredibly wide range of different interests, including a diverse assortment of hobbies ranging from literature, history and fine arts to nature and outdoor activities. No matter what activity in which she engaged, she had a keen interest in learning and formed lifelong friendships. She loved hosting her family and friends for casual and formal events, which she did with a natural and congenial grace. Like her many hobbies, Carol’s professional experiences were quite diverse. She began as a school librarian in Mayville and Oconomowoc, WI and adapted her skills to work in a variety of other positions over the years. At the age of 60 she started a real estate career, working as licensed broker in the greater Appleton, WI area. After retiring and moving to Oconomowoc, Carol was able to enjoy her grandchildren, travel, garden and engage in countless organizations that continued to develop her passions and friendships. The family would like to thank the many caring professionals at ProHealth Care, Shorehaven and AngelsGrace Hospice for their skilled and compassionate care for Carol. Please join us in a Celebration of Carol’s Life at 11am, Saturday, June 30 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 145 E. Lisbon Road, Oconomowoc, WI 53066. Family will greet relatives and friends on Friday, June 29 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm and Saturday, June 30 from 10:00 to 11:00 am at Our Savior. A luncheon will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Carol's name to Lutheran Music Program (www.lsmacademy.org). Services are in care of Pagenkopf Funeral Home.
