With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Cathy Lynne Kerznar on August 15, 2024, at the age of 79. Born Cathy Lynne Bolewski in Milwaukee, WI on July 29, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Sophia Bolewski (nee Dolata).
Cathy is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Ken, with whom she shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and happiness. She is also survived by numerous cousins, all of whom she loved deeply.
Raised in Milwaukee, Cathy attended Bay View High School before she pursued her passion for helping others by obtaining a bachelor’s degree in social work from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. The knowledge from her schoolwork allowed her to make a meaningful impact on countless individuals and families in need both during her career as a social worker and beyond.
Cathy's journey was one of love and adventure, filled with cherished memories and unforgettable experiences. She and Ken shared a love story that began in an elevator at Gimbles in downtown Milwaukee, where Cathy worked as an elevator operator and Ken worked as temporary Christmas help. Together, they traveled the world creating extraordinary memories, such as kissing a giraffe in Africa, hugging koalas in Australia, and participating in the historic Hands Across America. For more years than they can count, they delighted in attending and making long-lasting friends at the annual Teddy Bear Convention at Walt Disney World.
Those who knew Cathy knew how generous she was with her time and resources for her friends, family and those in need. She was a true animal lover and cared for animals of all kinds including dogs, cats, birds, as well as a llama named Aabner, who added a touch of charm to everyday life at her home with Ken in Delafield.
Cathy found joy in creating handmade crafts, particularly her treasured teddy bears. She loved to love on people and her hands were rarely still. Her creativity and passion for crafting brought happiness to many, and her creations are appreciated by those fortunate enough to have received them.
No formal service will take place in accordance with Cathy's wishes. Instead, we invite you to remember Cathy in your hearts and honor her legacy by continuing to spread kindness and compassion in your own lives.
