Cheryl Lynn Shook (nee Hanseder) 'Cookie', from the town of Genesee, passed away in the arms of her loving husband on Sunday, December 18, 2011 at the age of 50. Cheri was born Sunday February 12, 1961. Cheri is survived by her loving husband Allen of 22 years and who she has been together with for over 29 years. Cheri is also survived by her mother Joan Hanseder of Waukesha, brother Dan (Renee) Hanseder of Mukwonago, sisters Debbie (Barry) Sayles of Genesee, Pattie Hanseder of Waukesha, her little brother Tom Pluess of Eagle, in-laws, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Richard and her grandparents. Cheri is a 1979 graduate from Eisenhower High School where she played varsity basketball; she then went on to Marquette University where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering in 1985. She started working for the city of Waukesha while in college as co-op student. Later she was employed by the city as a traffic engineer, achieving the title of registered Professional Engineer and P.T.O.E. (Professional Traffic Operations Engineer) and holding that position at the time of her passing. Shortly after Cheri and Al were married, they moved to the town of Genesee where they started a hobby farm known as Caper Acres with two dairy goats (Ginger and Mary Ann) and over the years the farm grew to include as many as 20 goats, 4 Ducks, 3 dogs, 1 mini horse and a stray barn cat (Puma). During that time Cheri and Al were 4H leaders with the Phantom Clovers Goat project and also became Waukesha County Fair Goat Superintendents. Through her caring and loving nature for all living things, Cheri touched the lives of many people that she barely knew. She will be truly missed by her husband, family and friends. Funeral services for Cheri will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at Pagenkopf Funeral Home with a burial to follow at St. Paul's Cemetery in Genesee. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 21, 2011 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Jefferson County Humane Society or to Leukemia Lymphoma Society.
