Colton J. King

Colton James King, aged 22 of Dousman, Wisconsin, was taken from us in a tragic bicycle accident on March 23, 2015. At the time of his passing, he was surrounded by his loving family. Son of devoted mother and father Barbara King, Michael King, brother to loving sister Jennifer King as well as her significant other Doug Appel, Step-son and brother to Cheryl Baker, Ryan, Laura, Kelly, Jenna and Dustin Rampetsreiter, and boyfriend of adoring Katie Muckerheide, grandson to Elizabeth King and the late Harvey King, Hannelore Kraft, and Gerhard Kraft as well as beloved nephew and cousin to a host of bereaved Kings and Krafts. Affectionately known to his mother as Colti, he was a perfect fusion of his mother’s softness and devotion and his fathers unabashed love for living IN life, not on the sidelines. The young man he became through his own hard work and dedication was astonishing. For those of us left behind we will never be the same. He started life out in Wisconsin with his mother, father and older sister. They briefly lived in Florida but returned to the place of their roots. It was here that he continued to flourish and grow under the guidance of his involved parents. He knew for sure he was loved. He also had the benefit and assorted hassles of a step family for his last 12 years. Possibly the best deal out of this was his first and life long friend and step brother Dusty. Colton proudly attended Kettle Moraine HS where he met a group of wonderful friends. He was an Honor Roll Student but his talents and interests were cross country and water and snow skiing. He lived on a lake most of his life and loved hanging out on the water. His family also spent winters in Big Sky, Montana where Colton became a dedicated ski instructor. His love, talent for water skiing continued into college when he attended UW-La Crosse for three years before transferring to UW-Milwaukee. He was the team’s secret weapon. He was an incredibly active person. He also enjoyed bike riding, rock climbing, and was passionately involved in Engineers without Borders. Special thanks to all his loving friends and other family members for their thoughts, energy and prayers at this difficult time. We know we are not alone in our sorrow. A celebration of Colton's life will be held at Crosspoint Community Church, W380N6931 North Lake Road in Oconomowoc on Monday, March 30, 2015 at 6:00 PM. Visitation will be from 3:00 PM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation in Colton’s memory to Engineers Without Borders at ssl.charityweb.net/ewbusa/
