Daniel D. Daniels & Margaret "Peggy" Daniels

Dan (called home to the Lord Sept. 3, 2016, age 92) and Peggy (April 14, 2016, age 89), lived a long and blessed life together for 62 years. With their positive outlook on life they brought joy to everyone they met. Dan was a WWII veteran and served his country from 1942 to 1946 in the Army Air Corps. He was stationed in Alconbury, England. He returned to Washington D.C. area and worked for the Federal Government until his retirement in 1984. During his career he worked for the Dept. of Navy, the Civil Service Commission, and the Environmental Protection Agency in Personnel Administration and Manpower Development. He received his Master’s Degree from George Washington University. Dan was a member of Concord Lodge #307, Order of Masons, in Vienna VA since 1967. Other interests include: blood donor, active in Friends of the Library, Vienna, VA, and church activities. He enjoyed reading, and following politics. His greatest joys in life were supporting and being with his beloved wife and children. After retirement he took great pleasure in watching the wildlife in the backyard, especially the deer and beautiful birds. He was a man of great faith, quietly carrying his light into the world. Peggy grew up in Detroit, MI, and was a graduate of Wayne State University with a degree in Geography. She loved to travel and went with a friend on a trip throughout South America, a daring adventure at the time. She then moved to Washington D.C. to work for U.S. Dept. of Interior, where she was a cartographer. Peggy raised two daughters, and was very active in the community during the time she and Dan lived in Vienna. She was a Girl Scout leader for many years, was a library aide at Patrick Henry Library, and was also a very talented porcelain painter, delighting her friends and family with beautiful pieces of art. Dan and Peggy lived in Vienna, VA for 55 years before moving to Wales, WI to be near their children and grandchildren. They were well traveled, experiencing Europe, Asia, and all corners of the US. They loved to attend their grandchildren’s activities, and took great pleasure in celebrations and holidays with family. Dan and Peggy are survived by their daughters Caroline (Mike) Driscoll, and Wendy (Keith) Schaetz, and their grandchildren: Lt. Cmdr. Sean Driscoll MC USN, Ryan (Julia Toepfer) Driscoll, Julia Driscoll, Sara Schaetz, Michelle Schaetz, and Amy Schaetz. Other surviving relatives include brother-in-law Thomas Litinas, nephews Tim (Kathy) and Terry (Lisa) Litinas, niece Laura (Heath) Duncan, and great nieces and nephews. Dan was preceded in death by his parents Herman and Celia (Misrach) Goldstein and his brother Israel. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents Albert and Caroline (Sobolewski) Chatterton, and sister Alice Litinas.
