Daniel Hayenga

Daniel J Hayenga CMSgt-USAF-Retired, of Oconomowoc, passed away on Friday, January 8, 2016. Dan is survived by his loving wife Maribeth Hayenga, children Michael (Lisa), Daniel (Sandra), Edward and Anthony. His grandchildren Megan, Trey, Jenny, Kyle and Pierce, sister Dona Kennington and cousin Janice Jensen along with two beloved Maltese puppies Abby and ZZ. Dan served 29 years in the USAF (1963-1992) with several tours in Vietnam, Philippines and Germany. Upon retiring from the USAF, he obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems Management and worked for several contractors supporting the U.S. Navy in the area of Foreign Military Sales. He retired from his IT position in October 2008. Since he was born in Rockford IL, the move to Oconomowoc in January 2009 was almost like going home again. He spent several years volunteering at the Aurora Summit Hospital, where he thoroughly enjoyed his interaction with folks coming in the clinic entrance. When he could no longer volunteer, he spent his time reading anything and everything he could get his hands on and loved going out for breakfast where he made numerous new friends. A Memorial Service is still in the planning stage, but will probably be in the Spring. When plans are completed, a notice will be placed in the paper so his family and friends can celebrate his life together. Memorials are suggested to The Wounded Warrior Project, in Daniels honor.
