Darlene B. Shumway

Flora Darlene Shumway at age 81 passed away on December 6, 2018. Never sick a day in her life, Darlene, as she was known by all, sat down from one of her weekly chores and passed away peacefully. She was born on March 18, 1937 to the late Raymond and Bertha Brandon from Gahanna, Ohio. Darlene attended Lincoln High School in Gahanna, Ohio where she still remained in close friendship to her classmates throughout the years. After high school, she met the love of her life, Richard Shumway, and together they raised five children, each whom remained the center of Darlene's heart and life passion. For the last twenty five years, Darlene was an active community member of Oconomowoc. She volunteered at Shore Haven, Our Savior's Lutheran Church and was a member of Quester's and Tops. Many members of these organizations became Darlene's closest friends. Friends and family were Darlene's passion and delight. In Darlene's phone directory is a birthday calendar and phone contact of every family and friend of her life. She would reach out to everyone each year sharing her love and care. There are so many who will miss her enormous heart and boundless love. Darlene is survived by her sister, Rosemary Wallace, all five of her children, ten grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and a number of other loving relatives and close friends. Darlene requested to be buried at her hometown of Gahanna. There will be a memorial visitation at Pagenkopf Funeral Home (1165 E Summit Ave, Oconomowoc) on Tuesday, December 11 from 2 pm until 4 pm for her community friends and family. There will be a graveside service March 17, 2019 in Gahanna, Ohio, her hometown, where her remaining family and friends can come together to share the stories of Darlene and her enormous, endless love.
