Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather and Good Friend To the greatest man we have known. You were our role model that we always looked up to. We wanted to be like you. You taught and pushed us to become the men and women we are today. You taught us to be strong and to never look back and to live our lives without any regrets. You were our pillar, our rock, and the person we could look to when things where not going right. You were the father not only to us but to every stranger your crazy kids brought home and to everyone that walked through our door. You were a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. You will be missed greatly but will never be forgotten. Fly high with your new wings and until we meet again at those golden gates in heaven, and keep watching over us like you’ve done your whole life. Darrel was a Vietnam Veteran, a paratrooper with the 101st Airborne, a combat medic, and an infantry instructor with the 84th Division. He taught U.S. Weapons and Nuclear Chemical and Biological Warfare, and taught thousands of recruits and soldiers. Darrel proudly served in Desert Storm. He was also stationed at Fort Hood, Texas as an instructor during Enduring Freedom.
