David John Werner of Neosho, WI passed away November 30, 2023 at the age of 84.
David was born July 16, 1939 in Neosho to Russel and Eunice (Gault) Werner. He was a 1957 graduate of Hartford Union High School. David was production supervisor for Fiberesin Industries in Ashippun, working there over 52 years. On July 20, 1974, he married Susan (Schwartz) at St. Paul’s Lutheran of Ixonia.
David was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran of Neosho, serving as president of the congregation and assistant treasurer. He was a frequent usher and greeter, and enjoyed the camaraderie of his Bible study groups. For his hometown, he served as a trustee for the village, and as secretary of the Neosho Planning Commission.
David had an artist’s talent for taxidermy, painting, and woodcarving, and was a past member of the Lake Country Carvers in Oconomowoc. He enjoyed golf, fishing, bird watching, and a good flea market. He was a master gardener, and especially enjoyed sharing what he grew. He loved spending time lakeside with his family in his house on Neosho Pond.
David is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Susan. CHILDREN: Ross (Julie) Werner of Randolph, Shelley Von Haden of Slinger, Wesley (Holly) Werner of Johnson Creek, James Werner of Iron Ridge, and Necia (Damion Shelton) Werner of Allison Park, PA. GRANDCHILDREN: Dylan (Julie) Werner, Madalyn Werner, Myriel (Dan) Dittmann, Werner Von Haden, Hailee Von Haden, and Jeanne Shelton. GREAT GRANDCHILDREN: Wyatt, Mason, and Bria Werner, and Will Dittmann. He is further survived by his niece Jeni (John) Borzick, and many cherished relatives, godchildren, and friends.
David is preceded in death by his parents; first wife Marilyn (Pappenfuss) Werner; parents-in-law, Alex and Lillian Schwartz; sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Bob Ritger; and nephew, Jeff Ritger.
Funeral service for David Werner will be held Sunday, December 10 at 4:00 PM at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church (132 E School St., Neosho), with Pastor Joshua Kesting officiating. Visitation at the church from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. Guests are invited for a meal in the church fellowship hall following the service.
David will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery. Pagenkopf Funeral Home of Oconomowoc is serving the family.
