David Louis Bertolas

David Louis Bertolas, age 81, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on April 1, 2024. He was born on September 3, 1942 in Milwaukee, WI to Aldo and Madeline (nee Manna).

Dave's passion for the outdoors was evident in his love for fishing, hunting, and spending cherished moments on Silver Lake with his children and grandchildren, creating lasting memories while boating and exploring nature. His love for nature extended to bird watching, particularly his delight in observing hummingbirds and tending to numerous bird feeders.

Known as the "neighborhood dad," Dave touched the lives of those around him with his kind heart and gentle spirit, sharing his knowledge and wisdom and leaving a lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Dave’s love for his family was everything and his dedications and love he had for them will never be forgotten.

Dave is survived by his children Christine G. Bertolas and Paul W. (Sheila) Bertolas; grandson David M. (Corey) Florence; siblings William and Margaret (Ron) Meyers; along with many other nieces, cousins, family and friends.

Dave is preceded in death by his wife Patricia; his parents; and granddaughter Darla.

The kind and loving care provided by the inpatient nurses at Accent Care Hospice was a source of comfort and joy for David. Nurse Sarah's ability to make him laugh and bring him joy will always be remembered by the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Wildlife In Need Center in honor of Dave's love for birds.

In honor of Dave’s life, a visitation will take place on Sunday, April 7, 2024 at Pagenkopf Funeral Home (NEW LOCATION:2228 N. Silver Maple Lane, Oconomowoc, WI 53066) from 2:00pm-4:00pm with a service to follow. The service will be followed by a gathering where food and beverages will be served, allowing friends and family to come together in celebration of David's life.
