Donald Andrew Mrosz was a loving son, partner, dad, poppy, brother, uncle, and friend. He left this world unexpectedly at age 77 on October 28, 2023. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, music, and sports.
Don was born September 21, 1946, in Menominee, Michigan to Andrew and Stephanie Mrosz. His love for guitar started at the early age of thirteen. At age fourteen, his band, the Starfires, began playing local venues in and around the Upper Peninsula. After graduating from Menominee High School in 1964, he moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he taught guitar to adults with special needs.
His innate interest in cars and engineering led him to a career in the trades. In 1966 he began his Apprenticeship at Allis-Chalmers Manufacturing Company, becoming a Journeyman Maintenance Mechanic in 1971. He worked for Allis-Chalmers for 21 years. He participated actively in the United Auto Workers Union Region 10 as Financial Secretary from 1980-1987. He also began his technical teaching career as an Evening Instructor at the Milwaukee Area Technical College, teaching Maintenance Fundamentals and Mechanical Maintenance courses.
He worked for Briggs & Stratton from 1987 to 1991, making lifelong connections.
Throughout his career, Don continued to enhance his knowledge in his field by attending multiple training courses, proudly completing his Associate's Degree. In 1991, he became an Instructor at Waukesha County Technical College. Don wrote the curricula and partnered with local companies to create a state-of-the-art program in Industrial Maintenance/Machine Repair. He devoted 30 years of his life to providing his students with training and encouragement to successfully enter the workplace.
Don is survived by his daughters Deborah Mrosz Anderson (Steven) and Nicole Mrosz Goldberg (Gregory), stepson Matthew McIntosh (Chrissy), life partner Michele DeYoe, stepdaughters, Liz and Lauren DeYoe, grandchildren, Casey and Jenna Anderson, Gabrielle and Carmen Goldberg, and Rosemary and Emily McIntosh, sister Margie Kienitz and many family members.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital , a charity that Don cared deeply about, are welcome.
The Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, November 25th at Pagenkopf Funeral Home (2228 N. Silver Maple Lane, Oconomowoc, WI 53066) from 10:00am-11:30am with words of remembrance to follow.
