Dylan Jay Schaefer, a beloved son, brother, and friend, passed away on December 12, 2023 at the age of 27. Dylan was born on June 18, 1996, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital in WI, to his loving parents, Sheila and Jerald Schaefer. Growing up in Dousman WI, Dylan attended St. Bruno Parish School K-8th grade and graduated from Kettle Moraine High School in 2014. Dylan loved sports: football, wrestling, track, soccer, basketball, snowboarding, skateboarding. Many of which he played from preschool on to the varsity level in HS.
During high school, he worked at Kmart during several Christmas seasons which fueled his disdain for Christmas music. After graduation he worked at Roundy’s Distribution Center before finding his true calling at Schaefer Soft Water, the family business. He started in May 2016 as a delivery route driver and advanced to Bulk Delivery Specialist. Dylan was incredibly proud to be part of the family business because, “my name is on the truck.”
Outside of his professional life, Dylan lived life to the fullest. In 2016 he became the proud owner of a red 1991 Ford Mustang and at age 21 he purchased his house in Hustisford, WI. Dylan loved cooking meals with an extra kick of flavor, especially spicy dishes paired with the hottest of sauces.
Dylan continued his love of sports into his adulthood by his in-depth knowledge of all sports, whether football, basketball, soccer, he knew the stats. Dylan was a huge supporter of FIFA, particularly Manchester United.
Dylan’s hobbies included playing video games, listening to rap music, fishing, and camping. He also had a fascination with meteorology and a keen interest in stocks and investments.
Dylan's infectious laughter and warm, charismatic personality had a profound impact on those around him. He had an uncanny ability to light up a room. With his playful and goofy nature, Dylan had an unmatched talent for making others smile and laugh, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.
Dylan is survived by his parents Jerald and Sheila (Cooper) Schaefer; sister Isabella Schaefer; aunt Cindy Cooper, cousin Haley (Cooper) Drehmel; great-aunt Evelyn (Scheel) Truesdell and Tom, cousin Jana Truesdell; uncle Carlton Cooper Jr. (Donna); great-aunt Terri Cooper, cousins Breezy (Cooper) Fingerson & Chad Grueneberg; great-uncles Gary Cooper (Darcy) and Larry Cooper (Lynn); aunts Jacquie (Burback) Schaefer, Linda Schaefer, Pam (Heinen) Schaefer, Kathy O’Malley (Schaefer) and Dennis, Shari (Schauer) Schaefer and uncle Tom Schaefer and many beloved cousins and extended family and friends.
