Edwin Whitney Wicker peacefully went to be with the Lord on March 25, 2025, at the age of 74. He was born on June 8, 1950, in Springfield, Massachusetts, to John and Edwine Wicker.

Ned dedicated his life to serving others, first in the United States Navy, where he courageously mined Haiphong Harbor and served as the head radioman aboard the USS Long Beach. His military service instilled in him a sense of duty and honor that he carried into every aspect of his life.

Ned graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee before further pursuing his calling at Trinity College of the Bible and Theological Seminary in Newburgh, Indiana, where he earned a Master of Arts in Divinity. Ned was known for his unwavering love for the Bible and his commitment to living a life that exemplified the teachings of God. His passion for faith and service was evident in everything he did. He dedicated his life to serving others. His calling as a chaplain found him spending seven impactful years at AngelsGrace, a role that allowed him to provide spiritual support and comfort to those in need. He also shared his caring spirit for 12 years with ProHealth Care at Waukesha and Ocon Memorial. His final project, the creation of The-Bible.net, encapsulates his lifelong dedication to sharing God’s word and helping those new to their spiritual journey engage with the Scriptures.

Ned was a passionate lover of baseball. A dedicated fan, he enjoyed playing, watching, coaching, and even reporting for the Associated Press on the Milwaukee Brewers. He had the honor of covering memorable moments in baseball history, including Hank Aaron's last night and the final home run of an iconic career. For 15 years, he shared his passion for the game by coaching baseball at Lake Country Lutheran High School, where he inspired young athletes to embrace teamwork, dedication, and sportsmanship.

He was deeply passionate about his work within the IndyCar racing series. Ned’s love for IndyCar racing was reflected in his ownership and publication of a IndyCar Racing Magazine that the drivers and races for more than a decade. His contributions extended to the IndyCar radio network, as the primary pit reporter he brought the excitement of each race to avid fans far and wide.

A talented guitarist, he spent many joyful hours playing in a band, sharing his passion for music with friends and family. His deep appreciation for animals enriched his life, as he tenderly cared for his beloved dog, Winston, and his cats, Theo and Greta.

Ned is survived by his wife of 47 years Debbie; brother John (Barbara); niece Lucie (Seth) Tweeddale and their children Katherine and Elizabeth; nephew Jack (partner Lénika Lopez); along with other family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at AngelsGrace, and special thanks to Ralph and Dan, along with all the friends and family who supported Ned during his illness. Your kindness and compassion meant the world to him and his loved ones.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Oakwood Church in Hartland, WI and to AngelsGrace Hospice in Ned's name are welcome.

In celebration of Ned's life, visitation will take place on April 2, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, with a service to follow at Pagenkopf Funeral Home (NEW LOCATION: 2228 N. Silver Maple Lane, Oconomowoc, WI 53066). Following the service, military honors will be accorded. Ned will be laid to rest at Prairie Home Cemetery in Waukesha, WI.
