Elaine F. Hill

Elaine F. Hill (nee Crotteau), age 88 of Oconomowoc, passed away on June 26, 2013. Beloved mother of 8 children: Steve (Reva), Jay (Tetiana), Teri, Greg (Laura), Suzanne (Louie) Fratini, Tim (Maureen), Mark, and Shelly. Loving grandmother of 19 grandchildren and 10 great grand children. She is further survived by her sister, Marge Gavin, and other loving relatives and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her hard working and loving husband, Billy J Hill,MD. She was born and raised in Merrill, WI. At age 18, she bravely moved to Ohio to complete nurses training through the Women's Army Core. Elaine and Bill met working at a hospital in Washington and were married on July 2, 1948 in Seattle, Washington. They lived briefly in North Carolina and Michigan before settling in Glen Ellyn, IL. Elaine left nursing to devote her time, love and patience to raising her family. She volunteered many hours at St. Petronille Elementary School and especially enjoyed tutoring in reading. Elaine also volunteered at Mercy Hospital's gift shop in Chicago where she became the main merchandise buyer. Later in life, she and Bill often traveled throughout the United States to visit family and celebrate events with their children and grand children. Elaine was a devoted Catholic, and enjoyed time with family, gardening, reading, theater, world travel and bird watching. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, yet lives on in the hearts of all those she touched. A Memorial Mass will be on Friday, July 5, at the Chapel at Shorehaven Lutheran Home in Oconomowoc at 1:00 pm. Visitation for family and friends will be at the Chapel from noon until the time of the service.
