On January 7, 2021 with purple streak in her hair and chicken purse in hand, Ellen Galecki Ragatz arrived to take her position in heaven’s music department and to jump her beloved horses Reveler, Tinker Toy and La Gravelle. She is survived by her husband Andrew R., children Thea, Andrew G. (Charlene), Hansen (Joleen) and grandchildren, Hayden & Owen. In 2000 Ellen retired from her role as an administrative assistant to the Athletic Director in the Kettle Moraine School system to devote more time to riding and jumping horses. While she enjoyed competing in Kentucky and Florida, her favorite horse show was the Minneapolis fall show, where she bested competitors 30 years her junior, not just once, but two years in a row. For over 30 years, Ellen played the organ and sang in the choir of local area churches—First Presbyterian Church of Ottawa, Jerusalem Presbyterian Church and Emmanuel United Church of Christ. She believed that music deepened one’s faith, illuminated the scriptures and taught one how to live a Christian life. Due to Covid-19 considerations, no memorial service is planned at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the music fund at Jerusalem Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 88 Wales, WI 53183.
