Ernest Lawrence Meress Jr. "Ernie"

Ernest Lawrence Meress Jr. 'Ernie', 69 , of Oconomowoc, passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2013, with his family by his side. Ernie is survived by his loving wife of 46 years Jan, children Molly (Robert) Becker and Heidi (Steve Bacik) Meress, sister Mary Jane (James) Remitz and brother Steven (Lori) Meress. Cherished grandpa 'papa' to Landon, Anthony, Isabella and Carson. Ernie is also survived by many other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Joyce Meress. Ernie retired as a Detective Lieutenant after 32 years of service with the Milwaukee Police Department. After retirement Ernie was a Lieutenant with the UWM Police Department and in 2011 he started Meress & Associates private investigation firm. He enjoyed sports, gardening and tending to his yard, his dogs Cali & Maggie and spending time with his family and friends, especially his grand children's activities. Ernie was a wonderful husband, loving father and will be missed by all that knew him. Funeral services for Ernie will take place at St. Jerome Catholic Church in Oconomowoc on Monday, September 30, 2013 at 6:00 P.M. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 3:00 P.M. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Ernie's name to charity of choice.
