Filomena Westermeier

Filomena Mary Westermeier passed away in her home at the age of 92 on Sunday, November 22nd surrounded by her family. Fil has gone to join her beloved husband Louis, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents John & Anna Gelsomin, brother John Gelsomin and her grandson James Louis Phillips. Fil is survived by her children Jeannie (Phil) Costa, Lisa (David) Bauman, Maria (Hal) Wood, Terri (David) Phillips, and John (Ann) Westermeier; grandchildren Brienne, Anthony (Lindsay), Ryan, Matt, Laura (Ryan), Ben, Erick (Jenna), Sarah (Nick), Jessica, David, Emma, Grace; great grand-daughters Mackenzie and Brinley; brothers George (Lee) and Jim (Lynn) Gelsomin and several other loved family members. Filomena was born and raised in Syracuse, NY and graduated from Syracuse University with a Bachelors Degree in teaching. After her marriage to Louis, they settled in the Chicago area and raised their family. Fil enjoyed art and occasionally created oil paintings and drawings. She participated in her church bowling league and women's tennis league for many years. Fil was also an avid bridge player and enjoyed golfing with her husband. Fil most recently resided at the Village on the Square at Three Pillars where she enjoyed many activities with friends and family. Visitation will take place at Three Pillars, Dousman on Saturday, November 28th from 1:00-2:00pm, with a service at 2:00pm.
