Frank Hertneky

Frank A. Hertneky, age 89, passed away on September 28, 2024, surrounded by family. Frank was born on April 11, 1935, on a cattle ranch in Ramah, Colorado to Frank Hertneky Sr. and Margaret (nee Volosin) Hertneky.

He worked at the family cattle ranch until his service in the U.S. Army.  He met his wife, Helen, while stationed in Europe where they were married.  Frank and Helen lived in Colorado before moving to Oconomowoc.

Frank was a builder and enjoyed working outdoors.  He had a creative and mechanical mind and could fix almost anything.  Carpentry and building came naturally to him, and he passed on his skills to his sons.

He volunteered his time working in Central America helping others.  Frank traveled on numerous missions over the years to Guatemala where he put to use his construction skills building hospitals and housing for those desperately needing such facilities.

His curiosity and unique way of viewing the world made him a special person.  Frank’s gentle and humorous manner drew in others – making him a mentor to many.

Frank is survived by his wife, Helen Hertneky; son John (Margie) Hertneky, son Mitch (Annabelle) Hertneky; daughter Carola (Scott) Margis, daughter Susan (Sal) Sorrentino; grandchildren James (Linda) Hertneky, Kristin (Jeremy) Guza, Jacob Margis, Rebecca (David) Arnell, and Rachel Margis; and great grandchildren Frederick Hertneky, David Hertneky, Penelope Guza, Theodore Guza, and Logan Guza; sister Patricia Kosley; brother Robert Hertneky.

Memorial service is Saturday, October 5, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 145 E. Lisbon Road, Oconomowoc, WI, followed by visitation from 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
