Gary Lee Longman
April 25, 1948 – December 28, 2023
In loving memory of Gary Lee Longman. Gary often described life as a process from our first breath to our last, which we navigate with humility, integrity, kindness, and pride until we are reunited with our Lord. On December 28, 2023,. Gary completed the process of his life on earth and began his eternal life in heaven. It’s difficult to even put into words how impactful Gary was on all those around him so as he liked to say, “I’ll give you the 30,000-foot view.”
Gary was a graduate of Northern Illinois University with a degree in accounting. He was a highly driven, business- minded CPA who quickly worked his way up at KPMG, becoming a partner at just age 32. He held many esteemed positions, including partner-in-charge of the Chicago Audit Practice and leader of the Midwest-area technology practice. An accountant by trade, Gary dedicated his talents not only to his work but also to the community. He joined many business boards. He was a director of Marine Bank and “interim” President of Sunny Ridge Family Center for ten years, guiding them to success. He approached challenges with resilience and grace, inspiring those around him to persevere in the face of adversity and to invest in the process to grow and challenge oneself each day.
Family was the foundation of all of Gary’s achievements. He truly loved with his whole heart, never passed judgement and promoted everyone around him to be their best person. You could find him enjoying a game of dominoes at home, pulling grandkids tubing on the lake, cheering for the Iowa Hawkeyes at a tailgate or traveling the world with his wife and kids, giving them memories that will be cherished forever. He is survived by his wife Ruth (nee Biesboer), son Greg (Nicole), and daughter Rebecca (Nick Radulovich) as well as 6 beautiful grandchildren: Tristan, Cameron, Hollie, Natalie, Betty, and Bowen. His friends were also a major part of Gary’s legacy, fondly remembered for his trustworthy, honest and sarcastic personality. He was always one to bring wit and laughter to an event, often jokingly telling Ruth to get in the car when it was time to call it a night.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to AngelsGrace Hospice -Oconomowoc or a charity of your choice in honor of Gary’s commitment to making the world a better place.
A Celebration of Life for Gary will be held on Saturday, June 1 from 1:00 - 4:00 at the Westmoor Country Club, 400 S. Moorland Road, Brookfield, WI 53005.
We hope you will be able to join us then as we pay tribute to a remarkable man who touched all our lives in immeasurable ways.
