George A. Skosey

George Andrew Skosey, 67 of Oconomowoc found eternal peace while surrounded by his family at home on Thursday, August 2, 2018. Visitation will be held on Saturday August 11 from 10:00 to 11:45 at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Oconomowoc with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 12:00 p.m. George was born on March 5, 1951, the son of George and Kathryn (Shanahan) Skosey. He married Linda Noel in May 1982. George graduated from Gillespie High School (Gillespie, IL) in 1969. He graduated from the University of Missouri-Rolla in 1974 with a bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering. After graduation, he began working for John Deere in Dubuque, IA. During his 28 years with John Deere he also worked in Moline, IL and Horicon, WI where he retired in 2001. During retirement, George missed his engineering work, his coworkers, and the company of which he was proud. George returned to John Deere in Horicon as a contracted employee for an additional decade. George enjoyed wood working and repairing things in his shop. He loved the outdoors and gardening. Additional pastimes include watching baseball, playing softball, cheering for his children’s sports teams, participating in Boy Scouts, and serving as the treasure for the Oconomowoc Soccer Association. George was an avid runner throughout his life and completed several marathons. He always made time to enjoy family, friends, and share a cold beer. George was an awesome son, husband, father, father-in-law, and grandfather, and he cherished time with his family the most. George is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Linda; his children Michael (Ashley) Skosey and Sarah (Daniel) Schick; and grandchildren Grant and Nolan Skosey; and many more family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Kathryn Skosey. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to St. Catherine of Alexandria Church or Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.
