George Robert Hasslinger, age 82 from Oconomowoc, WI, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. George is survived by his loving wife Marion (Ryan) Hasslinger, his children Marcia Hasslinger, Mark Hasslinger, Gwen (Bob) Snyder, Lisa (Dan) Van Dyck and Richard (Chris) Hasslinger. His grandchildren Kate (Erik) Zlevor, Cara Burditt, Peter Hasslinger, Laura (Chris) Kerkhoff, Alison Hasslinger, Adam Gross, Natalie (Brent) Russell, Lily Snyder, Robby Snyder, Johnny Snyder, Andy (Cara) Van Dyck, Alex (Jen) Van Dyck, Danny Van Dyck, Denise Van Dyck, Maggie (Erik) Henke, Amy Griffin, Joseph Hasslinger, Marisa Hasslinger and Jacob Hasslinger, his great grandchildren Ava Kerkhoff, Cooper Kerkhoff, George Russell, Betsy Russell, Aubrey Van Dyck, Jordan Van Dyck, Conner Henke and Claire Henke. He is also survived by his bother and sister David Hasslinger and Beverly (George) Meyer and many, many nieces and nephews. George is preceded in death by his parents George J Hasslinger and Clara A Hasslinger, his brothers Harvey Hasslinger and John Hasslinger, sister Francis Morris, his daughter Beth Gissing, grandson Ryan Gross and granddaughter Molly Switalski. George was beloved by his family and many friends. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He was fortunate to retire early from Nestl’s (formerly Carnation) and travel in his RV with his wife and two dogs. He mastered and taught us many things, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical and cement work. He loved to grill and cook. Family favorites were his soups, chili and Chex mix. He also loved to garden (flowers). George served in the United States Army. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. George was a long-time member and usher of St. Jerome Parish. He ran the St. Jerome Fun Fest for a number of years. George also served as an Oconomowoc alderman for many years. George had an incredible work ethic. He was a kind, loving and giving person. We are all happy that he is now in a better place and we will miss him very much. Services for George will be held at St. Jerome Catholic Church (995 S Silver Lake St Oconomowoc, WI) on Friday, April 1, 2016. Visitation will start at 10 AM with a Mass to follow at 12 PM.
