Gerald Edward Brown

Gerald E. Brown ("Jerry"), age 64, passed away March 6, 2021, in Dousman, WI. from a sudden cardiac event, with his beloved partner Lisa Ott at his side. He was born March 26, 1956, at Selfridge Air Field, MI, into a military family. After living in many interesting locations around the world, the family eventually settled in Gladwin, MI. Following his high school graduation in 1975, Jerry proudly entered the United States Army, to train as a military police officer. During his army career, one of his assignments took him for several years to Berchtesgaden, Germany, as station commander for an MP post where he served alongside local police. It was a duty station he greatly enjoyed, and he was highly respected by his German counterparts. Jerry was next stationed in Leavenworth, Kansas. During that assignment, he was sent to Seoul, Korea, for a one-year unaccompanied tour. He returned with an appreciation of Korean cuisine, and a special fondness for kimchi. While in Kansas, he retired from the Army, and joined the local police department. As one of his special duties there, he participated in a Community Policing Unit which did street patrols using specially designed bicycles. As his family grew, the desire to be closer to extended family took him to New England, where he served with the Lebanon, New Hampshire police department, until his retirement from the force in April 2017. Jerry always enjoyed policework, and treated others with dignity and compassion. He was respected by members of the local community, as well as his fellow officers and first responders, who called him "Uncle J". He will be greatly missed, and lovingly remembered by many dear friends and family members. Those who survive Jerry include his beloved partner Lisa Ott, his cherished daughters Josephine (Joseph) DeVito and GeorgiaAnne Brown, and his precious grandchildren, Rocco, Salvatore, and Genevieve DeVito. Also mourning his loss are his stepmother June E. Brown, his siblings Nancy (Ray) Robinson, Cindy (Deb) Bohle-Brown, Charlie (Joanne Cassidy) Brown, and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his father Raymond E. Brown, his mother Delores (Pickard) VanSteenburg, and his youngest brother Terry Ray Brown. Per Jerry's wishes, cremation has taken place. A private celebration of his life will be planned at a later date. Memorial donations to Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation, 44900 Prentice Drive, Dulles, VA 20166, Fallenpatriots.org or The Autism Community in Action (TACA), 2222 Martin Street, Suite 140, Irvine, CA 92612, tacanow.org would be appreciated.
