Gerald "Jerry" Giblin

November 4th, 2011 Today we have lost a beautiful piece of the world. A piece that has touched us all in so many ways. We say goodbye to Jerry (Grandpa) Giblin. One of the most influential people of our lives has returned home but not before making his mark on each and everyone of us. A model of a man for all other men to follow and strive to be like and rock for all women in his life to lean on. His dedication to the people he loved was matched by no one. None however stronger than his love of his beloved wife Alice. Through this love I learned how to be a man. His understanding, caring, support, devotion, and thoughtfulness with my Grandma defines love as I know it today. Their love, to me, is the example of the beautiful nature of true love and one I wish to model for me and my wife. Grandpa taught me so much of what its is not just to be a man, but how to be a decent human being. Approaching the world with not just forgiveness and understanding but also with respect and responsibility. To be a good person of this world requires these characteristics as we interact with all people of our lives. My Grandfather taught me this not only in words but more so in his approach and actions over his life time. Proof of his approach to life is the amount of positive feelings his family and friends have when you simply mention his name, think about him, and the depth of or sadness we all feel today. Grandpa, I will never be able to really come to realize that your not just drive or phone call away. You have been such a source of my being that you really can't ever leave me. I will carry the lessons that you have taught me forever and continue to pass on the wisdom that you have instilled in me to all people that I touch in my life. If I am so lucky as to be a father I will use you and your guidance as the example of how to raise a child with love, support, and understanding. Through love, devotion, and respect, I hope to have the same amazing effect that you did on all those who I encounter in my life. Your infectious zest for enjoyment and happiness in life has given me a reason to live it to the fullest. Thank you for being you Grandpa. I owe you so much and I shall attempt to repay you by being the best that I can no matter what the situation. When I make it home to God and Heaven I hope to join you at the dinner table and have a game of 'steel the bread.' I love you Grandpa. A grateful grandson, Bryan P.S. The whole family will be there to take care of your 'Oscar'
