Gerald Peter Nelezen

OCONOMOWOC - Dr. Gerald Nelezen, 76, of Oconomowoc, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at Froedert Hospital on Tuesday, February 25, 2020. Gerald was born in Wauwatosa, WI on May 30, 1943 to Peter and Theodora Nelezen. Gerald was an exceptional student and athlete in his youth. He graduated Salutatorian of his high school class, then pursued studies in pharmacy at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Gerald met his wife, Mary, while working as a pharmacist at Doctor's Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Shortly after their wedding Gerald went to medical school and became a Family Doctor. His career spanned 44 years and included private practice, addiction and emergency medicine. Gerald was a loving husband and father to his wife and four children. He will be remembered for his humor, intellect, and gentle nature. Gerald is survived by his wife, Mary Nelezen; son, Peter Nelezen; daughters, Anne Nelezen-Krogstad, Jennifer Nelezen, and Mary Christine Nelezen (Kajun Roehl); grandchild, Jackson Krogstad; sisters, Helen (Alan) Reshenberg and Lois Moore; and niece Kirsten Moore (Adam Hustedde). He is preceded in death by his parents, his half-brothers, Roy and Paul Nelezen, and his nephew Owen Moore. On Sunday March 15th a visitation will be held at Pagenkopf Funeral Home, 1165 E. Summit Ave., Oconomowoc, WI from 10 am until time of Service at 12:00 Noon. Memorial Donations to HAWS, Humane Animal Welfare Society, would be appreciated.
