Gerald Yauck

Gerald Yauck, age 81, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on July 16, 2023.

Gerald was born on April 21, 1942 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Frederick and Lucille (nee Hanke) Yauck. Gerald attended Zion Lutheran Grade School and Boy’s Tech High School, Milwaukee. He entered the service on March 13, 1964, spending 13 months in Vietnam as a heavy equipment operator with the 46th Engineers building hospitals and barrack for the troops during the heavy use of the Agent Orange defoliant. Gerald retired from Bark River Culvert & Equipment in 1999 moving to Lac du Flambeau where he became self-employed with Jerry’s Small Engine Road Service. In 2006, Jerry & Rose moved to Oconomowoc to be closer to family.

The Lord brought Gerald Yauck into Rose and her children’s lives. They were married on June 16, 1979 at Brookfield Lutheran Church.

Gerald “Jerry” enjoyed traveling and after retirement, spent the winters on the Texas Gulf Coast where he and Rose enjoyed golfing, fishing and exploring the countryside. He loved to hunt and fish in his earlier years, was an avid trap shooter and sports fan of the Brewers and Packers. Jerry enjoyed woodworking, making numerous furniture items for use during church services and sharing his God-given talents.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Rose of Oconomowoc, WI; his children, Daniel (Christine) Makovec of Mukwonago, WI and Dawn (Geno) Smith of Oconomowoc, WI; grandsons, Matthew Makovec of Madison, WI, Tyler Makovec of Mukwonago, WI and Andrew Makovec of Mayville, WI; great-grandsons, Huxlee and Kaehleb Makovec. He is further survived by his half-sister, Ruthann (Jerry) Meek of California; brother, Richard (Darlene) Yauck of Town of Brookfield.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Lucille (nee Hanke) Yauck; and sister, Judy (Duwayne) Boettcher of Leavenworth, Kansas; and his beloved puppies, Duchess and Pokie.

Jerry supported numerous veteran organizations and was a member of the American Legion. The family is thankful to Rainbow Hospice, Johnson Creek for the loving care they provided Jerry in his final days.
