Gregory M. Hollub passed away peacefully on February 8, 2024, with his loving wife at his side. Greg was born on March 16,1947 in Oshkosh, WI to Earline and Kenneth Hollub, and grew up in Waukesha, WI where he resided for most of his life before spending his retirement years in Sturgeon Bay, WI; Neenah, WI; and Oconomowoc, WI.
Greg graduated from Waukesha High School and went on to further education at UW Oshkosh and UW Whitewater, teaching Physical Education at Waukesha South High School from 1972-2002. Greg coached swimming for more than 25 years at Waukesha North High School, Waukesha South High School, Sturgeon Bay High School, and the Neenah Wave Swim Club. Swimming was his first love, competing in grade school, high school, college, and US Masters swimming into his seventies, where he held many state and national records. Never one to sit idle, Greg also excelled in biking (through the mountains of Colorado for ten separate years), skiing (downhill, x-country & water), triathlons and golf, as well as many other recreational activities. Throughout his years of teaching and coaching Greg touched many lives and made lasting friendships. He loved to travel around the United States and to Europe to visit family. Greg had a full life that was ended too early by Alzheimer’s disease.
Greg is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Diane, as well as children- Paul Hollub and Tari Albrecht (Scott); grandchildren- Matthew Hollub, Abigail Resch (Jake), Alex Kamas (Desmond), Jack Albrecht, Tyler Albrecht, Emma Albrecht, Willem Albrecht; Great Granddaughter- Charlotte Resch; Mother- Earline Hollub, Siblings- Debbie Surges (James), Dana Dabroski (Robert), Darcy Hollub, David Hollub; Brothers-in-law- John Gehring (Margaret) and Fred Gehring as well as many additional nieces, nephews and friends.
Greg is preceded in death by Father- Ken Hollub; Grandparents- Herman/Emma Hollub and Bernard/Mary Geffers; Sisters-in-law- Trudy Hollub and Janet Gehring; and Brother-in-law Gordon Gehring.
A special thank you to Tamarack Adult Day Services-Hartford and Azura Memory Care-Oconomowoc for helping Greg navigate through the last year.
Visitation and services to honor the life of Greg will be held at Pagenkopf Funeral Home (2228 N. Silver Maple Lane, Oconomowoc) on Friday, March 1, beginning at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association, Tamarack Adult Day Services, Azura Memory Care Oconomowoc, or Aurora Zilber Family Hospice are appreciated.
