Gwendolyn Jean Simons

Gwendolyn Jean Simons, age 79, passed away peacefully at AngelsGrace Hospice on August 19, 2024. She was born on June 19, 1945, to Ralph and Viola (nee Kanter) Kloehn in Milwaukee, WI.

Gwen's journey in nursing began when she graduated from Deaconess Hospital of Nursing in 1965. Gwen devoted 40 years of her life providing comfort and care to those in need. Her empathy, professionalism, and kindness earned her the respect and admiration of colleagues and patients at every step of her career, culminating in her final role at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin.

Gwen’s love for creativity shone through in her passion for ceramics and stamping. She found joy in crafting handmade cards for all occasions, spreading happiness and warmth with her personalized creations. One of her favorite activities was going out to eat, relishing in good company, conversation, and delicious food.

Gwen will be deeply missed by her husband of 52 years, Gregory S. Simons; her children Tim (Amy) Frank, Geoffrey (Sandra) Simons and Andrea (Chris) Hartmann; her 6 grandchildren Megan, Mason, Paige, Mia, Grayson and Camden along with other family and friends.

Gwen's final days were made comfortable and peaceful, thanks to the compassionate care provided by AngelsGrace Hospice. The family extends their deepest gratitude to the staff for their support during this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Heart Association or the National Kidney Foundation in Gwen’s name are welcome.

A visitation to celebrate Gwen’s life will be held on Monday, August 26, 2024 at Pagenkopf Funeral Home (NEW LOCATION: 2228 N. Silver Maple Lane, Oconomowoc, WI 53066) from 4:00PM-6:00PM with a service to follow.
