Helen Elizabeth Sternkopf

Helen Elizabeth Sternkopf (nee Porter), age 86 of Oconomowoc, formerly of Wauwatosa, peacefully passed away at home with her family by her side on Monday, October 10, 2011. Helen is survived by five daughters: Elizabeth Sternkopf of Hartland, WI, Margaret (the Reverend Doctor Donald) Stein of Onalaska, WI, Mary (Michael) Potratz of Watertown, WI, Karen Sternkopf of DePere, WI and Martha (Bruce) Schultz of Chanhassen, MN. Helen is also survived by ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, along with many other relatives and friends. Helen was preceded in death only three weeks ago by her husband, Carl, her sister Mary (Porter) Sands and parents Arthur and Frank Porter. Helen graduated from UW Madison in 1947 where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and remained a life-long Badger fan. She was an active member of Zion Episcopal Church in Oconomowoc, a past member of Eastern Star and sang in the Oconomowoc Community choir. Helen will always be remembered for her creative talents of sewing, knitting, crocheting, baking and as of late, making greeting cards with her friends at Lake Terrace Apartments. Helen and Carl enjoyed years of sailing, attending dog shows and their annual fall excursions to Door County. A visitation for Carl and Helen will be held at Zion Episcopal Church, 135 Rockwell Street, Oconomowoc, WI on Saturday, October 15, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Episcopal Church with burial following at LaBelle cemetery. An opportunity for all friends and family to visit and enjoy refreshments at Zion Episcopal Church will follow the committal. Special thanks to Aurora Visiting Nurses Association.
