Helen Korth, age 89 of Delafield, passed away in her home into God’s hands on Tuesday, September 24th, 2019. Helen was preceded in death by her late husband David of 58 years. Helen was born to the late Edward and Jesse Rowland (Matchock) on July 31, 1930 in the City of Chicago. Helen Graduated in 1948 from Oconomowoc High School and later from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee where she received a teaching degree. After graduation Helen worked as a full-time public grade school teacher and later as a substitute teacher. Helen was a parish member of the St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church where she taught catechism and actively participated in organizing rummage sales and other social events. Helen was very active in life and loved plants and gardening. In the 1970’s Helen owned and operated the Delafield Florist. From spring to fall you could always find her out in her garden. As a homemaker Helen was always busy and enjoyed a multitude of activities even after being 90% blind for the last 29 years. Her activities in life included holiday decorating, cooking, baking, canning, arts & crafts, seamstress, furniture refurbishing, knitting, enjoying wildlife, house pets, traveling, hiking, swimming, water skiing, cross country skiing, camping, horseback riding, and making fires to burn brush from yard work. Helen left us one last fire to burn for her. Helen is survived by her children Lyle (Crystal), Philip (Kathy), Jan (Steve) Hollowell, Julie (Tony) Marschner, grandchildren Sara Marschner, Ross (Annie), Desirae Korth, Breanna (Tom) Strerath and great grandchild Hayden Strerath, her brother Richard (Joan) Rowland - nieces and nephews Tom, Paul, Mary, Don, Ann, Joe, Nancy, David, her sister in law Beatie and nieces and nephews Diane, David, and Dennis. Helen was preceded in death by her son Greg Korth, her brother Edward “Coke” Rowland, her brother and sister in law Herbert & Delores Wessel, and nephew Craig Wessel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 Noon on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church, W359 N8512 Brown Street, Oconomowoc, with a visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be held at St. Joan of Arc Cemetery. Memorials in Helen’s name may be made to Lapham Peak Friends, W329 N846 Hwy C, Delafield, WI 53018.
