Duchow, Irene I. (nee Koeppler) Age 92, of Oconomowoc, passed away on Friday, August 19, 2011. Irene was born on February 7, 1919 to William and Ida Koeppler in the Town of Concord where she was raised. She attended Lakeside School and graduated from Oconomowoc High School. She married Walter “Duke” Duchow on August 23, 1941. Irene and Duke had on daughter, Barbara. Duke preceded her in death on July 17, 1995. Irene is survived by her loving daughter Barbara Duchow, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews, along with other relatives and friends. She is also survived by her special friends Ruth and Carlyle Gilbertson and Pat Meyer. Irene was preceded in death by her parents and seven brothers and sisters Elsie Buske, Leona Hemke, George, William, Walter, Clarence and Ruth Foley. Funeral services for Irene will be held on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at Concord United Methodist Church, W1096 Concord Center Drive, Sullivan, WI at 12:00 p.m. Visitation will be at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will follow the services at Concord United Methodist Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Concord United Methodist Church or to a charity of one’s choice. Irene was a lifelong member at Concord United Methodist Church; she actively participated and volunteered whenever and wherever she was needed. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and most recently their Circle of Faith. Irene was also a member of the Concord Historical Society. She was active in the Concord Seniors where she played cards there every three months. Irene worked various jobs and her last place of employment was at Brownberry Oven. She was there for 28 years and retired in 1983. Irene loved to travel especially to see family and friends. Her travels included Hawaii, Alaska, Mexico, Canada and several trips to Europe. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Irene took interest in playing cards and watching Jeopardy. During her free time Irene wrote poems about her family, growing up in a Christian home and the trips she had taken. Irene was a caregiver; lending her help and support to family and friends whenever and wherever it was needed. She will be deeply missed and forever in the hearts of those that knew her. The family would like to thank the Rehabilitation Hospital of Wisconsin and Lake Country Health and Rehabilitation Center in Summit, WI for their wonderful care.
