Jacob Ray Strautman, age 16 of Ashippun, passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2014. Jacob will be deeply missed by many family and friends. Jacob was a graduate of St Jerome Parish School and a sophomore at Oconomowoc High School. He was a lover of nature and anything outdoors, where he found much comfort and peace. Jacob wished he could spend all of his time outdoors. He was an avid hunter, camper, biker and outdoorsman, and was a member of Stone Bank Sportsman’s Club and the OHS Trap Club. Jacob had an easy way about him and a huge heart. He was a caring friend, a loving brother, and the best son. We know that he touched many in his short life, and that his memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. The world is a better place, and each of our lives enriched, through the life of Jacob. Jacob is survived by his loving parents Mark and Julie (nee Slipek) Strautman, sister and best friend Nicole, grandmothers Larri Strautman and Theresa Slipek, uncles and aunts David (Jennifer) Strautman, Doug (Amy) Strautman, John (Kathy) Slipek, Chester (Deborah) Slipek, cousins Julia, Drew, Evan, Anna Brook, Jackson, Isaac, Benjamin, Noelle, Nicholas and Sarah, loving dog Jett, along with many other relatives and friends. Jacob was preceded in death by his grandfathers Alan Strautman Jr. and Raymond Slipek, grandmother Helen Strautman and aunt Marilyn Slipek. The family wishes to thank Ashippun Fire & Rescue and the staff of Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital for their caring response and services, as well as the love, support and prayers of our wonderful community during this difficult time. We would like to especially thank the staff and students of Oconomowoc High School and St. Jerome School, as well as the staff and congregation of St. Jerome Catholic Church.
