James “Bucky” Thompson, age 92 of Lake Country, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 28, 2024, surrounded by his family. James was born January 8, 1932, to Fred and Susan Thompson in Waukesha. James is survived by his only daughter Tammy Thompson Myers (husband Chad Myers) and loving Grandson Christian Gazdecki, along with nieces Janet Dennert (Bruce) and Linda Feldman (David), nephews David Thompson (Sue), Steve Thompson (Helen), Penny Thompson (Tim deceased), Ellen Hazard (Jim deceased), Don Caveney (Susan) and Steve Caveney and other many other great nieces and great nephews, relatives, and the best friends a man could ask for.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Wife Mary Ellen Thompson (January 5, 2021), siblings: Leroy Thompson (Mary Ann), Bobby Thompson (Lila), Fred Thompson, Laverne Hazard (Phil), nephews: Jim Hazard and Tim Thompson and many special relatives. Also, very dear to James his special Aunt Angeline Noll who raised James after James' Mother Sue passed away at the young age of 9 years old.
James had an absolute true passion for photography, meteorology, fishing, bowling, travel, writing in his journal daily, music, and the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers. James had many, many friends. James and his Grandson Christian have such a special bond, he loved Christian with all his heart. James worked at Auto Paint and Supply in Waukesha as a young man for many years and later at Godfrey Company for 25+ years in Waukesha and picked up the nickname “Bucky” from his buddies at Godfrey Company.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Lake Country Health Services Hospice in Oconomowoc for their unwavering support and compassionate care.
A funeral service for James will be held on Sunday, February 18, 2024, with a visitation for family and friends starting at 10:30 AM until the time of service at 12:30 PM. A burial will follow immediately at Summit Cemetery. Following the burial will be a Celebration of Life for James with plenty of food, and assorted beverages all to take place at Pagenkopf Funeral Home in Oconomowoc. James will be laid to rest with his loving wife Mary Ellen Thompson.
