James F. Fuller

JAMES FREDERICK FULLER, Age 79, of Nashotah, peacefully passed on Thursday, December 14. With him was his family by his side, and his family and his friends in his thoughts. He has rejoined his wife of 29 years, Zoe Ann Gray. He is survived by his children Megan, Hank and Jim, along with his extended family Brian Busch, Jodi and Aimee Fuller, and his step-sons David and Richard Truesdell, along with his grandchildren, Cori, Andrew, Jacob, Jordan, Bella and Read, and his first wife, Edna Pfeiffer. Jim was born October 15, 1933, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was adopted by George and Bertha Ann Fuller. He attended St John's Military Academy, Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois, and eventually onto The University of Wisconsin at Madison where he earned a Master's Degree in English. He began his teaching career in 1957 at Oconomowoc High School where he taught English at all levels. Jim was an academic who loved to teach and learn. Jim earned additional degrees in English Education and in Philosophy. When he retired he was head of the English department. He also spent many years during his career representing the best interest of our teachers while actively participating in the Teachers' Union. Jim's legacy will be his commitment to our children and his desire to educate and develop our young kids. Throughout his life Jim was an active outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, bird-watching, and photography. He had a special fondness for Northern Wisconsin and the Rocky Mountains. Jim and Zoe spent much of their retired years wandering the foothills of Pike's Peak. In his younger years Jim was very active in the Wisconsin Ornithology Society and actively pursued bird banding and watching. Near his passing he had taken up an old passion, model railroading. His collection of model trains will be donated to a museum in Mezomanie, WI. A memorial service will be held at Pagenkopf Funeral Home in Oconomowoc, on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at 7:00 PM. Visitation for family and friends will take place from 4:00 PM until the time of the service. Jim's family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Season's Hospice in Pewaukee for the attentive and compassionate care he received during his final days. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Oconomowoc Scholarship Fund.
