James L. Counsell

James L. Counsell age 66 of Oconomowoc, passed away on Thursday, July 10, 2014 at AngelsGrace Hospice while surrounded by his family after a courageous 9 month battle with esophageal cancer. Jim is survived by his loving wife Linda, his son Ron (Sherri) Counsell of Clyman, daughters Amy Counsell of Ixonia and Cari (Travis) Kehl of Oconomowoc and his step daughter Angela Massoumi of Franklin along with 6 grandchildren Zach Counsell, Kylie and Ryan Hazzard, and Emily, Alisha and Brianna Kehl. Jim is further survived by his brothers Al (Gloria), Jerry (Marsha), Cheech (Cyndi), Tim (Sue), Bob (Elly), and his sister Kathy (John) Brocke. Also survived by his sister-in-laws Sue Counsell, Charlotte (Rick) Bach, Peggy (Denny) Streich and brother-in-laws Al (Sharon) Laabs, Dick (Judy) Laabs and Tom (Mary Lou) Neuman along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Jim is preceded in death by his first wife Bert, his parents Huck and Vi Counsell and his brother Don Counsell. Funeral Mass for Jim will be held on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at 3:00 P.M. with a visitation starting at 11:00 A.M. for family and friends all to take place at St. Jerome Catholic Church (995 Silver Lake St. Oconomowoc, WI 53066). Jim was a life long member of St. Jerome Catholic Church where he was always active, especially in his favorite the Catholic Knights of Columbus. He owned and operated Ashippun BP since 1995. He was a veteran of the Army National Guard. Jim lived almost his entire life on Fowler Lake where he could be seen wake boarding, boating and cutting his grass. He enjoyed polka music and dancing, playing cards, golf, tennis and spending time with his family, especially taking adventures with his grandkids. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to St. Jerome's would be appreciated.
