James L. Rose, born to eternal life on July 31, 2015 at the age of 83, the son of A. Thomas Rose and Venice Rose of Madison, Wisconsin. Jim will be greatly missed by his beloved wife of 57 years, Anida, and his loving nephew, jay (Barb) Drake of Bay Side, and cherished niece, Lona Rafar of Port Washington. Jim is the dear Great Uncle of Katie and Kirk Deffke, Lauren and Katelyn, Sarah and Paul Klajbor, Meg and Henry, and Tom and Jodi Drake and Andrew. He is further survived by other relatives and many friends. Jim is preceded in death by his loving sister, Jean Rose Drake, and adored niece, Jamie Drake. Born in Madison, Wisconsin, May 14, 1932, Jim graduated from West High School, the University of Wisconsin, and is a life member of Acacia Fraternity. Jim received his Private Pilot’s License at the age of 16 and later earned both an Instrument and Commercial License. He flew privately for most of his life. Jim served as Director of the Wisconsin Department of Taxation in Waukesha. Later he established his own C.P.A. Practice of over 30 years in Richfield, Wisconsin, James L. Rose and Associates. A member of Elmbrook Church for over 50 years, Jim’s volunteer service spans more than 6 decades. Starting with the Civil Air Patrol involved in search and rescue and homeland security. He is a lifetime member of the Jaycees, and served on all levels, local, state, and national. After serving as a local chapter president, he was elected Executive Vice President of the Wisconsin Jaycees and National Director of the U.S. Jaycees. Jim was named Badger Jaycee, outstanding Jaycee in Wisconsin and is a J.C.I. Senator, Number 7303. A longtime resident of New Berlin, he served as a volunteer on the New Berlin Board of Review for over 25 years. Jim is the Co-founder of the Wisconsin Committee of Project Concern, a non-profit medical relief organization committed to creating lasting change in the health and self-sufficiency of people living in poverty in Africa, Asia, and the Americas. Jim was an Elmbrook Rotarian for 26 years and a Paul Harris Fellow. He served for many years on the board as Rotary Club Treasurer. Through his effort he contributed to the improvements of the quality of life in the communities the Rotary Club serves. Jim’s life was based on two things, his faith and relationship with Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior, and his deep love for and service to others. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral service for Jim will be held at Pagenkopf Funeral Home, 1165 East Summit Avenue in Oconomowoc on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at 12:00 PM. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Jim will be laid to rest at Highland Memorial Park. Memorials in Jim’s name may be made to Elmbrook Church in Brookfield, Wisconsin.
