James E. Laue

James E. Laue, age 87, passed away peacefully with all of his kids by his side on March 19, 2025. He was born on February 11, 1938, in Sheboygan, WI, to Robert and Darlene Laue.

Waukesha is where Jim called home, he graduated from Waukesha South High School and then dedicated 32 years to the City of Waukesha Fire Department, retiring as a Captain. A leader of unwavering courage, compassion, and dedication, he was also a proud member of Alpha Ten, Waukesha’s first paramedic squad, providing care and protection to his community. Known as “Bull” among his fellow firefighters, Jim embodied the true spirit of a protector—always putting others before himself.

Family was at the heart of Jim’s happiness. He cherished time spent with loved ones and never wanted to be alone. He spent much quality time with his family fishing, hunting, playing cribbage, dancing, singing, and creating lifelong memories at his cabin in Lily, Wisconsin. He had a heart big enough for everyone, always welcoming others into his home with an open door, a ready bed, and a fridge full of food. His warmth and presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Faith was a guiding force in Jim’s life. He grew up attending Catholic school and was a devoted member of the Catholic Church. He found strength, solace, and community in his worship.

Jim is survived by his children: Scott (Jane) Laue, Debra (Roger) Mroczenski, Dawn Ogrezovich, Todd (Jodi) Laue, and Shari (Todd) Beland. He is also lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers Bob Laue and Tom (Sue) Laue, and numerous extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his late wives: Arlowyn, the mother of his five children, and Margie; son-in-law Robert Ogrezovich.

Jim was blessed and loved by an extended family of caregivers from The View at Pine Ridge, and his loved ones are forever grateful for their compassion. A special thank you to Rory Bolton for his musical talent and for providing a calming presence.

Visitation will be held on April 8, 2025, at Pagenkopf Funeral Home: (NEW LOCATION) 2228 N. Silver Maple Lane, Oconomowoc, WI 53066. Visitation from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM, where family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate his life. A funeral service will follow.
