Janice Carol Schreiner

Janice (Jan) Carol Olson Schreiner, age 91, of Roll’s Landing, FL, formerly of Frankfort, IL, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2024 at Towner Crest Senior Living, in Oconomowoc, WI. She was born August 21, 1933 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Carl and Lillian (MacNeill) Olson. Jan married Peter Schreiner April 16, 1955 in Chicago, IL. He preceded her in death on November 20, 2018.

With a compassionate heart and unwavering dedication, Jan touched countless lives as a beloved nurse. She completed her nursing education in 1954 at Evangelical School of Nursing, and began her nursing career at Evangelical Hospital, later working for Christ Community Hospital in Oak Lawn, IL. Jan's dedication to education and her career led her to work at South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest, IL. She was promoted to Shift Nursing Supervisor and Staffing Coordinator and while working full-time, she earned a baccalaureate degree from St. Francis College. Jan subsequently was promoted to Director of Nursing at South Suburban Hospital where she served for many years. Jan loved reading, gardening, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. She also found time to serve as a member of the Peotone Community School Board.

Jan, a beloved mother and cherished wife, is survived by her loving family. Surviving are two sons and one daughter, James Schreiner of Bradley, IL, William Schreiner of Cocoa Beach, FL, and Caryl Mulder of Oconomowoc, WI; three grandchildren, Lillian Schreiner, Miles Mulder, and Addison Mulder; one sister, Karen (Kay) Shannon of Oak Lawn, IL; three nieces, Kellie (Pat) Lee, Judy (Doug) Becker, and Sue (Mike) Newburg; two nephews, William (Heidi) Shannon and Rick (Cindy) Memmel. In addition to her husband, Jan was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers-in-law, Roger Shannon and David Memmel, one sister-in-law, Anne Custer and one daughter-in-law, Suzi Schreiner.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
