Jean Marie Bender

Jean Marie Bender, age 76 of Oconomowoc, passed away surrounded by her family on Saturday, July 6, 2019. Jean is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Gary. Her children Renee (John) Hamilton and Brett (Kate) Bender, grandchildren Johnny, Alice, Willy and Frannie Hamilton and Harley and Beau Bender along with her twin sister Joan Anderegg. She is further survived by her Aunt Rosie and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Jean was preceded in death by her parents John and Alice Anderegg. Jean was born and raised in Oconomowoc, went to St. Jerome’s Catholic School and graduated from Oconomowoc High School. She then attended University of Wisconsin Madison, where she received a BA in Math and English. She later went on to teach at Cedar Grove, Germantown and then St. Jerome’s. Jean loved shopping, rummaging, reading, playing cards, couponing, caregiving, gardening, sewing, 5 O’s score keeping and working the concession stand at Champion Field. Most of all she loved to spend time volunteering at St. Jerome Church and St. Vincent De Paul and spending time with her family. Jean touched many lives and will be deeply missed by everyone that knew her. Special thanks to the Aurora Lombardi Cancer Center especially Dr. Siegel and his staff. Also, a very special thanks to the IV Therapy staff at Aurora and the staff at AngelsGrace for their compassion and exceptional care. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Jerome's Catholic Church of Friday, July 12, 2019 at 12:00 PM with a visitation for family and friends starting at 10:00 AM until time of service. Memorials are suggested to St. Jerome's Funeral Luncheon Fund, St. Vincent De Paul, or AngelsGrace Hospice in Jean's honor.
