Jeannette Martha Bauman (nee Voelz) was called home to her Heavenly Father on July 2 at age 89. While she endured many physical ailments in recent years, her constant trust in her Savior – along with her love of a good joke – served as continual inspiration to those whose lives she touched. She is survived by her daughter Ruth (Steve) Badciong, of Winona, Minn.; son Paul (Teresa) Bauman, of Sun Prairie, Wis.; nieces and nephews; and many special friends. Her four grandchildren – Ben, Tim, Maggie and Peter – meant the world to her. Jeannette was preceded in death by her parents, Emma and Harry Voelz; her husband, Harold; and a brother, Fred. Growing up in Milwaukee, Jeannette lived with her family in a comfortable two-story home on 44th Street. She attended Girls Trades Technical High school, graduating as valedictorian in January 1942. During WWII, she volunteered for the Women's Army Corps, serving at Fitzsimons U.S. General Hospital in Denver, Colorado. After the service, she worked as a professional secretary for Cutler-Hammer in Milwaukee, supporting the company's president. On Aug. 10, 1963, Jeannette married Harold and, after a brief period in Milwaukee, moved to the home they'd built on Brandybrook Road in the town of Genesee. They remained there until moving to the Wilkinson Woods assisted living center in Oconomowoc in 2002. Throughout her life, Jeannette was a tireless volunteer. At Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Wales, she taught Sunday School, confirmation class and VBS; was an active member of Sisters in Service; and continually reached out to new members and visitors to make them feel welcome. Jeannette also volunteered in numerous ways with the Kettle Moraine School District, the Ex-POWs organization, the Golden Lasers and the American Red Cross. Jeannette loved crossword puzzles, BINGO and, most of all, visiting with good friends – passions she pursued even in her final days. Funeral services for Jeannette will take place at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Wales on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. Visitation for family and friends will be from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service. Burial will take place at Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery in Pewaukee at 1:30 P.M. The family requests memorials be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Wales. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters. Psalm 23: 1-2 (Jeannette's confirmation verse)
