Jeffrey Easton Spence

Jeffrey (Jeff) Easton Spence, age 78, passed away peacefully at home on the morning of Thursday, October 10, 2024. Born July 8,1946 to Morton R. Spence Sr. and June B. Spence in Milwaukee, Jeff grew up with four siblings, Mike (Marie) Spence, Sukie (Bob) McNutt, Ken Spence and Sara (David Pabst) Spence enjoying Beaver Lake.

Jeff attended Swallow School and University Lake School before heading off to high school at The Leelanau School in Glen Arbor, MI. He attended Denison College and was active in ROTC, ultimately serving his country in the Air Force.

Jeff had an inventive and entrepreneurial spirit. Over the years he ran a number of business ventures including Controlled Systems, and his most recent passion, a custom dock manufacturer—Mod U Dock.

Jeff enjoyed all that the beautiful Lake Country area has to offer. He was an avid skier and also loved to sail and kayak. Jeff was always quick to lend a hand to someone in need. Over the years, he gave generously of his time and talents to the Tall Pines Conservatory and Heiliger Huegel Ski Club, and he could be found judging Sunday morning sailboat races on Oconomowoc Lake or delivering meals on wheels. In addition, Jeff was a long time Rotarian and served in a variety of capacities over the years.

The family would like to thank Angel’s Grace Hospice and At Your Service in home care for providing care and comfort in his final days, as well as all the family and friends who encouraged and cared for him throughout his cancer journey.

Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Mike and sister Sukie. He is survived by his brother Ken, sister Sara, daughter Kelly, (Paul) Pagel and son, Peter (Sara) Spence, as well as grandchildren Sarah Pagel, Jack Pagel, Alliah Schaefer, Anthony Schaefer, cousins, numerous nieces and nephews, and dear friends.

In lieu of flowers, please consider honoring Jeff’s generous nature by making donations to Zachariah’s Acres or the Tall Pines Conservatory.

Services for Jeff will be held at Pagenkopf Funeral Home, 2228 N Silver Maple Lane, Oconomowoc, on Friday, November 1st. The family will receive friends from 2-4 PM, with the memorial service starting at 4pm.
